Hi friends, welcome to my website. I’m Lynda Whatley, and I love writing stories. I love how words describe a moment allowing readers to feel what a character is experiencing. Readers become embedded within a character empathizing, embracing, and even experiencing physical emotions. Books offer some readers a safe place to discover a world they want to know more about and experience it through characters. Self-discovery can happen through characters as well. What if? How did they? Books provide readers with an escape from their lives, a wonder of adventure, changes in direction and courage. Readers see themselves within pages and see possibilities.

Starting a new adventure is exciting, scary, and requires perseverance. When I ran track, I learned perseverance. My brain said, “Make it to the next curve. Make it to the straight away. Make it to the finish.” I like the challenge of learning new things, flipping my perspective of what I thought true, and getting uncomfortable with growth. Is it a gut punch? You bet, but our brains are capable of more than we can imagine. Mindset dictates what you can accomplish.

I am currently working on a middle grade series about cozy heartwarming characters seeking adventure as they explore the world. These characters, like all of us, struggle at times with life’s challenges; however, with the help of family, friends, and their own courage, they overcome internal and external conflicts.

People talk about the impact teachers make, yet we teachers are inspired by our students and their parents as well.  A mother of a special needs student once said to me, “I just want him to get even a piece of what you’re doing.” She saw my heart and my intention. This reinforced my commitment to help children and young adults see their uniqueness and reach their potential. Now I am pushing myself forward writing books with the same goals. I believe in my path, where I am going, and how one person can make a change in the lives of others.
